Prince Charming, the tritagonist of Disney's 1950 classic "Cinderella," is a beloved and enduring character in folklore and fairy tales. As his name implies, Prince Charming is a prince of a distant kingdom who embodies the archetypal "prince charming." He is known for his handsome appearance, kind heart, and unwavering determination to rescue his beloved from adversity.

The Damsel in Distress

Prince Charming's primary role in fairy tales is that of a hero who rescues a damsel in distress. In the case of "Cinderella," his beloved is the eponymous heroine, who is trapped in poverty and servility by her wicked stepmother. Prince Charming's unwavering love for Cinderella drives him on a quest to find and liberate her from her unfortunate circumstances.

The Evil Spell

In many fairy tales, including "Cinderella," Prince Charming must overcome an evil spell or curse that hinders his beloved. In "Cinderella," the wicked stepmother prevents the heroine from attending the prince's ball.
