WATCH LIVE: USC athletics director Ray Tanner looks to enter new role

Tanner will be holding a press conference to discuss his new role as athletics director at the University of South Carolina

Ray Tanner, the former athletics director at the University of South Carolina, will be holding a press conference on Tuesday, July 12, to discuss his new role. Tanner will be taking over for Mike Bohn, who left USC to become the athletic director at the University of Southern California.

Tanner has been a member of the USC athletics department for over 20 years. He served as the head baseball coach from 1996 to 2012, leading the Gamecocks to two College World Series titles and six SEC championships. Tanner was promoted to athletics director in 2012 and has overseen a successful period for the Gamecocks. Under Tanner's leadership, USC has won national championships in baseball (2010, 2011), women's basketball (2017), and women's soccer (2017).

Tanner's press conference will be held at the Moore School of Business on the USC campus. The press conference will begin at 11 a.m. and will be streamed live on the USC athletics website.

Tanner is expected to discuss his vision for the future of USC athletics, as well as his plans for the football program. The Gamecocks are coming off a disappointing 4-8 season in 2021, and Tanner will be under pressure to turn the program around.

Tanner's press conference will be a major event for USC athletics. It will be an opportunity for him to lay out his plans for the future of the program and to answer questions from the media.
